Floors come in various structures, design styles, colors, protective finishes, installation methods – the list goes on and on. To help you kick start your search, consider our top three things when shopping for flooring.
1. NARROW DOWN THE CATEGORIES
Flooring categories include solid hardwood, engineered hardwood, vinyl plank flooring, and laminate flooring. Choosing your flooring category type has everything to do with your current space and its foundation. If you’re installing on or above the ground floor of your home, you have less to worry about - all four categories will work for your renovation.

Solid and engineered hardwood can run the full length of a home with no issue. With vinyl plank and laminate flooring, its planks are constructed to click together and floated above the subfloor. We recommend extending to 40 feet before incorporating a transition molding.

2. DAILY CARE AND MAINTENANCE
Maintaining your floors will inevitably become part of your routine and knowing what you’re getting yourself into will save you time and energy in the long run. Vinyl plank and laminate flooring are simplest in terms of care and maintenance. They require a standard cleaning procedure of sweeping and heavy duty cleaning with approved products, which may be the most appealing to busy individuals. Solid and engineered hardwood on the other hand, depending on the type of top coat and finishing, may require a fresh re-coat every few years to keep its luster and wear resistance.
3. OVERALL VISION
Now comes our favorite part – consider your unique design style! What type of feel are you going for when it comes to your space?
